J. Michael AdamsDr. J. Michael Adams
A widely respected leader in higher education, Dr. J. Michael Adams became Fairleigh Dickinson University's sixth president on July 1, 1999, following 15 years as an academic dean at Drexel University in Philadelphia. At Fairleigh Dickinson, he has led the development of a new University vision and mission: creating world citizens who are comfortable in environments of diversity, increasingly sophisticated technology and rapid change. Dr. Adams is the author of nine books. His publications and research cover a wide variety of topics including print, publishing, communication and career development, as well as topics specific to the field of higher education. Prior to assuming the FDU presidency, Dr. Adams worked with many corporations providing expertise in management. A former professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego, Dr. Adams was awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence. He also was named to the Soderstrom Society of Fellows for lifetime achievement and contributions to the printing and publishing industries. In 2006, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Kyungnam University, Korea, in recognition of his international leadership in higher education. Dr. Adams is active with many national and international education organizations. In 2008, he was named President-Elect of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP). He is chair of the IAUP North American Council, and is an IAUP representative to the United Nations. He also serves on the UN/IAUP Commission on Disarmament Education, Conflict Resolution and Peace. He is a member of the Governing Council of the United Nations University and is a National Council member of the United Nations Association of the United States of America. Dr. Adams also is a member of the Steering Committee of the World Bank's Researchers Alliance for Development and the Editorial Advisory Board for International Educator, the flagship bimonthly magazine of NAFSA: Association of International Educators. Dr. Adams holds a B.S. from Illinois State University, Normal; an M.S. from the University of Illinois, Urbana; and a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

Angelo CarfagnaAngelo Carfagna
An award-winning writer, editor, communications consultant and international affairs and media studies scholar, Angelo Carfagna has worked on behalf of higher education since 1993. The Assistant Vice President for University Advancement and Communications, he has collaborated with J. Michael Adams to promote and garner attention for the University's global mission. They are frequent partners on various projects focusing on global education and world citizenship. These have included articles, op-ed pieces in newspapers and major speeches and presentations. Since 1996, Carfagna has been executive editor of the university's award-winning flagship publication, FDU Magazine. A well-respected communications professional and higher education advocate, he also has written for the Jackie Robinson Scholarship Foundation and the Independent College Fund of New Jersey, as well as other universities in the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan Area. Angelo Carfagna holds a B.A. from Montclair State University and an M.A. in political science from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
